Choosing the Right DJ...
The entertainment can make or break your event.

Long after the food, flowers, party favors, and guest speakers have been forgotten, your family and friends will always remember whether or not they had a good time!!!

This single fact is why choosing the Right DJ is so important...

EXPERIENCE and REPUTATION
A DJ with years of experience performing at all types of events will have gained the trust of his peers and a good reputation as well. Ask any other professionals you are working with to recommend someone. Also get advice from family, friends and co-workers. Make sure that the DJ you are considering has a list of references and comments from previous clients they have worked with. Make sure the company you use to hire a DJ isn't sending a "DJ in training" or "DJ newbie" to perform at one of the most important events of your life.

ADVANCED PLANNING
Will the DJ get together with you before signing a contract? Is a one-on-one consultation part of the price you will be charged? Will the DJ work with your photographer to make sure things run smoothly? Does the DJ's personality "fit" with what you are planning?

MUSICAL SELECTION
Does the DJ have an extensive music library to accommodate the varied tastes of those who will attend your event? A professional DJ will always allow you to choose the types of music for your event!!!

SOUND AND LIGHTING EQUIPMENT
Does the DJ use commercial quality equipment that is appropriate for the size and logistics of your event? Is the equipment presented professionally with cords and wires hidden as much as possible? Does the DJ have a backup system in case something goes wrong?

PERSONALITY
Do you want a 'laid back" or a "festive" atmosphere at your event? A good DJ will be able to handle the mood you prefer. Do you want the DJ to interact with the crowd? Does the DJ have public speaking or media experience? The personality of the DJ is very important.

PRICE
Have you been quoted a price that seems "too good to be true"? Well, it probably is. A reputable, professional DJ operates the same as any other business enterprise and must generate enough revenue to cover the cost of salaries, equipment, insurance, and other business expenses. An extremely low price-quote probably indicates an inexperienced person with limited equipment and presentation skills. That's the last thing you need on your special day... It's well worth the extra money to hire a pro!

CONTRACT
A written contract is a MUST. Make sure everything about your event is specified and confirmed. Make sure you understand the "wording" and that it protects both you and the DJ.

Additional Tips

Make sure your DJ has backup equipment.

Look for a DJ who has public speaking and/or radio experience.

Always write down your questions, prior to interviewing any DJ...

Ask if the DJ will take  suggestions to make your celebration unique!

Don't settle for a Disc Jockey company that won't let you talk to the DJ before your event.
